The Samsung Galaxy S4

"Samsung Galaxy S 4 Is Imperfect, Will Sell Like Hotcakes" -Via eweek

In case you haven't heard about the announcement of the new Samsung Galaxy S4 that is set to begin selling sometime in April. Let me catch you up with a short video from Samsung.

So now that you's my take: Short and sweet.

I am a owner of a Samsung Galaxy S3 device and I enjoy it very much. It's feature packed and many features I don't even use or I forgot they were there. I watched the announcement stream for the Galaxy S4 and the whole time I drooled and told myself, "I have to have it!" After the presentation I thought, well why do I want it? Samsung's has Galaxy devices have gained a reputation as the "it" phones. I have to give it to Samsung; they're very innovative and always trying to come up with new ways to make your phone so much more useful. They set themselves apart from competitors by miles. Getting back to my opinion, because I am a Galaxy S3 owner I feel at this time it is pointless for me to own the S4. Here are my reasons:

  1. There's a lot of cool features that I feel I will never use. Ex. play my music on other people's devices
  2. Many features that the S4 has will be ported to other phones that are compatible as well. " Samsung’s VP of Portfolio Planning confirmed that a lot of the software enhancements that we saw yesterday would make their way to Samsung’s other flagship devices, as long as they are not hardware dependent.
Anything that we can do that’s not dependent on hardware like infrared, we’ll definitely bring to all the flagship devices." via Droid Life
Reasons I would consider getting the S4:
  1. Larger vivid display (0.2 inches larger than the S3)
  2. Slimmer size (the S3 is pretty slim already but the S4 has a larger battery. Battery life may remain the same since it has to now power a larger display.)
  3. Health option (The S4 is now a direct competitior with the Fit Bit device, $99, where it monitors your sleep patterns and acts as a pedometer. I don't have a Fit Bit and I can't find the urge to cough up $99 for a pedometer.)
